Privacy Policy

Prelude ("Prelude," "we," "us") helps you prepare for upcoming conversations and moments. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. Prelude only reuses your personal context when you explicitly choose to save it. Nothing is silently promoted from a temporary session into permanent memory.

Account information. Email address and password (stored as a salted hash, never in plaintext or reversible form), or, for guest accounts, no credentials at all.

Content you create. Intake answers, generated preparations, saved items, preparation questions and additions, practice history, reflections, and anything you explicitly ask Prelude to remember. This can include optional 1–5 readiness check-ins before and after a preparation.

Operational data. Reminder and notification preferences, and—only if you enable notifications—a push-notification subscription and device token used to deliver notifications to that device. We also collect subscription/billing status and app usage events (e.g. which screens are used). Usage events store event names and small structured metadata, never free-text content, and are kept for 90 days.

• To show you whether a preparation changed how ready you feel.
• To send reminders and push notifications you've opted into.
• To operate free/paid subscription tiers and billing.
• To maintain and improve the reliability and safety of the app.

• We never sell your personal information.
• We never diagnose you or infer sensitive psychological conditions.
• We never promote temporary session content (like an in-progress intake draft) into remembered personal context without your explicit consent.
• Your intake draft stays on your device until you generate a preparation.

To generate preparations, your intake responses are sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) for processing. We use that processing to provide the requested Prelude feature; we do not use your content ourselves to train a general-purpose model. Our API key and prompts are never exposed to your device. All AI requests are handled by our servers. Provider handling is also subject to the provider's applicable terms and settings.

• View and delete individual remembered items from your Profile.
• Export all of your data as a file at any time.
• Delete your account and associated active account data, with no undo.
• Sign out of a single device without affecting your other sessions.
• Disable push notifications at any time.

Your content is retained until you delete it or delete your account. Account deletion removes active account records from Prelude's application database; backup and provider-system deletion may occur on their own documented schedules. Operational usage events are retained for 90 days and then automatically deleted.

We use industry-standard practices to protect your data, including encrypted connections, hashed passwords, and per-user data isolation enforced at the database level. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Prelude is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and will delete an account if we learn it belongs to a child.

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll update the effective date above, and for material changes we'll provide notice within the app.
